The Rastelli

This venue’s design draws upon the abstract art theories of Wassily Kandinski to interpret the movement, energy, rhythm and poise of a performer such as Rastelli – and to reflect the reactions, expressions and moods of the audience. Just as importantly, if not more, it looks stunning. The Parlour

Its enchanting wooden facade is adorned with a feature artwork in Victorian style, hand painted by Melbourne Scenic-Artist Ulla Taylor. Finished with a brilliant blue exterior, white canvas roof, and a rich maroon and navy velvet interior. The Parlour echoes a bygone era. The Little Palais

The striking high contrast design of The Little Palais demands attention in any setting. The alternating bands of colour tease the viewer’s perception; is it light on dark or dark on light, are the lines expanding or contracting? Did that tent just move? Like a kaleidoscope the pattern seems to constantly rearrange, never settling for long; a precursor to the ever-changing experience within.

Ukiyo

The word Ukiyo is Japanese meaning ‘The Floating World’, referring to the collective pleasure seeking quarters of urban Edo (modern day Tokyo) life, it was a time of never before known peace and prosperity where culture flourished and the common people could enjoy theatre, music, dance… and some less virtuous forms of entertainment perhaps.
