Australian Opal

Australia produces over 80% of the World’s opals. Australia also produces the most valuable and sort after opals. Opal is formed over millions of years from silica-rich water running down through cavities within the earth (between 5 and 60 feet below surface) and then evaporating leaving silica deposits to build up and harden. Be aware that some stores sell synthetic opal. We only sell Genuine Australian Opals.
