Backyard Cricket Ingenuity

Cricketing tragics seem to have a knack of being able to craft backyard cricketing essentials from anything & everything. Be it a fence picket as your blade, broken tree branches as your stumps & a gumnut for a ball. We can play anywhere, anytime!

"This photo was taken on Australia day 2008 in Guatemala. My friends and I are all huge fans of summer backyard cricket and beers. Unfortunately we couldn't just duck out and grab a bat so we found the local timber mill and had them fashion a makeshift cricket bat and stumps. No doubt Guatemala will have young rising cricket stars as a result from this infamous backyard cricket match. See you at the SCG." Tim

Street Cricket Player India. So lovely. You don't need a lot of equipment to play. Have a look at the bat and the stumps!

What a piece of Willow!! It'll do anyway! Catherine Edwards: "Kids playing cricket in the middle of the road in Mumbai, January. Although they didn't have either a pitch or a set of stumps, they still had a very tense and exciting match!" What an excellent 'blade' and what smiles!
