All the items shown below are part of a private collection of more than 470 Japanese textiles and related artifacts. The collection is divided into 28 fascinating topics, and tells the history of Japan from 1895-1960 this board is showing just one of those topics, please enjoy the exhibition.

Boy's military style cap with unusual mariner's compass embroidered insignia. The cap still has it's original protective white cover suggesting it may have been worn by a  naval/maritime safety agency cadet. The Japanese Maritime Safety Agency was formed in 1948 and used the compass as it's logo. Now it is known as Japan Coast Guard.
