He was born Gobind Rai on December 22, 1666, in Patna, Bihar. He became the tenth Sikh Guru at the age of nine, following the martyrdom of his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur. Guru Gobind Singh Ji is revered for his contributions to Sikhism, including the establishment of the Khalsa, a warrior community, in 1699. He also formalized the Five K's, which are the core tenets of the Khalsa's identity: Kesh (uncut hair), Kangha (wooden comb), Kara (iron bracelet), Kirpan (ceremonial dagger), and Kachera (special undergarments). He was a warrior, poet, and philosopher. He is also credited with the Dasam Granth, a collection of Sikh scriptures.
