Manly Wharf Bar | HOSPITALITY
Manly Wharf Bar | HOSPITALITY | "During the planning phase of the project, we worked to create varying experiences of casual dining. This prime position in the floor plan frames stunning harbour views through awning hung steel-framed windows. A galvanized steel ledge on washed brickwork piers surrounds a stunning centrepiece of sandy terrazzo built by Will’s team at Re.CStudio ollective," - Senior Associate Sophie Harriss.
Spotted Gum House | RESIDENTIAL
Spotted Gum House | RESIDENTIAL | "The upper level of Spotted Gum House is conceived as a timber box. It is deliberately varied from the masonry of the lower floor; more tactile and very expressive. The ceiling joists are aligned to the joinery door handles, and this moment of reflection at the bathroom opening helps multiply that sense" - Principal Jeremy Bull.
Alexander House | RESIDENTIAL
Alexander House | RESIDENTIAL | “It’s lovely to reflect back on the time passed since this image was captured by photographer Anson Smart and our team. It’s lived in and remains a living building filled with change and process. I think all buildings are like this; they develop and change, they infuse the spirit of their place and inhabitants, and they are really never complete"- Principal Jeremy Bull.
Spotted Gum House | RESIDENTIAL
Spotted Gum House | RESIDENTIAL | "The master suite at Spotted Gum House is structurally very simple whilst being materially very present. Tones of timber and linen within a flush set curtain pelmet to make the room feel very intimate, while the timber ceiling joists and spotted gum doors are quite precisely detailed and perfectly aligned," - Practice Manager Jeremy Bull.
Spotted Gum House | RESIDENTIAL
Spotted Gum House | RESIDENTIAL | "In this instance, a framed cabinet built within a recess creates a moment of interest and pause within a masonry wall. Above this niche and concealed behind cabinetry is the stair landing from the master suite - it creates the volume of this space below it and informs the scale of the niche itself,"- Principal Jeremy Bull
Manly Wharf Bar | HOSPITALITY
Manly Wharf Bar | HOSPITALITY | "A simple, yet warm and textured palette is applied across the space to bring a domestic and familiar sensibility. There are nods to mid-century furniture and joinery through black-butt timber, cork and glass details," - Senior Associate Sophie Harriss.
Alexander &CO. | CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
Alexander &CO. | Concept Development | Here Interior Designer Ellen Simmons and Principal Jeremy Bull are modelling the bones of a residential project using Sketchup. This model will later be used as the base for hand sketches and esquisses to ensure that concepts are drawn to scale.
Alexander &CO. | Design Details
Alexander &CO. | Design Details | FF&E (furniture, fixtures and equipment) is an important part of the design process and includes the design, selection, specification and procurement of furniture and furnishings. Here Senior Interior Designer @alice_seugon and Designer Ellie Brunning meet with @spacefurniture to discuss the project’s furniture selections.

Hand Drawing | PRACTICE NOTES | Principal Jeremy Bull says, “Hand drawing is a central part of our Practice process and a skill we continually seek to improve. I’m passionate about getting the team to experiment with different techniques and materials.” Hand drawing is a meaningful element of our project ideation and communication. It is ultimately a craft of the hand made, an art form of the maker.
Shelly Beach House | SKETCHING
Shelly Beach House | SKETCHING | We reveal a glimpse of what's to come at Shelly Beach House as Principal Jeremy Bull sketches the design intention for the ground floor using Procreate. This in construction residential project overlooks the magnificent water view towards Manly in Sydney's Northern Beaches.
Hand Drawing | PRACTICE NOTES
ON THE WEBSITE | From preliminary schematics to design detailing, hand drawing plays an important role throughout all our design processes. It facilitates ideation in a way that is less procedural than computer aided design yet still communicates the concept's essence and allows the unique hand of the pen-holder to shine through.
Alexander &CO. | Design Details
Alexander &CO. | Design Details | Here our Interior Designer Matthew Grand is applying his creative penwork in Concepts App to sketch the lobby concept of the iconic Isle of Wight Hotel on Phillip Island in Victoria. The development which spans across the 8600sqm waterfront site will include a retail precinct, wellness centre, event space, key worker accommodation, ground floor F&B facilities, as well as a signature restaurant and the proposed 160 rooms. Harbord Hotel | HOSPITALITY
The ceiling in Balsa dining room is an acoustically separated timber lining with insulation above. We were slightly resistant to this solution which when we set out was intended to be built in balsa timber, principally based upon the cost to the client and not that it wasn’t a great acoustic resolution. An image of an Alvar Aalto ceiling was enough to convince us that ours would work, however, in order to make it substantial the timber species was eventually modified.
