Found in the Golyama Kosmatka tumulus, near Shipka, Bulgaria, among the wider "Valley of the Thracian Kings". The tomb has been identified as that of the Thracian king Seuthes III (Livius; en.wikipedia), although the only human remains recovered were four teeth scattered on the floor. The burial has been dated alternately to the 290s BCE or ca. 275 BCE, but took place in a monument of the 5th c. BCE. The rocky hill rises above the fertile valley of the Perpereshka River, a left tributary to the Arda. It was deified by the people of the Stone - Copper Age (late 5th - early 4th millennium BC).
