Die heiligen Florian und Sebastian, Unbekannter Meister, Franken (1470/80). By the 15th century the HRE parts of the stem duchy of Franconia had become Burgundian territory. This fellow certainly looks somewhat Burgundian and teh work may be based on a man who served Burgundy during the Burgundian wars. The helmet is similar to the Trevanion sallet, a type not very popular in Germany. The breastplate is unusual for German armour of the period as is the sparse fluting for an armour of the 1480s. 15th Century Paintings, Selling Art Prints, Saint Florian, Knight Armour, Saint Sebastian, St Florian
