St Lucia House

The design of the St Lucia house was an exercise in ecologically sustainable practice. The response was to adopt the idea of a retreat; responding directly to the terrain and ecological context. The passive sustainability components include: a green wall to the Western facade; large overhangs; a thermal mass wall as the structural spine; water features for evaporative cooling and natural light ingress; a thermal chimney for heat extraction; and openings to encourage cross ventilation.
