Our 7 days in Seminyak, Bali
On our first day at the beach, we noticed a massive sculpture in the distance that towered above everything else you could see. It didn’t take long to discover this was the Patung Garuda Wisnu Kencana sculpture in the GWK Cultural Park. This became the day-trip plan for day 3. After a 40-minute drive, we spent 2 hours exploring the many gardens, sculptures and museums...
Things to do in Ubud, Bali
Of all the rice fields in Ubud, the most beautiful and famous is the Tegallalang Rice Terrace. These rice paddies cover the slopes of the valley and utilise a traditional Balinese cooperative irrigation system called Subak. There are many ways to see and access the rice terrace, by yourself or on a tour. We decided to enjoy the views for breakfast first, before venturing into the terrace....
Our 7 days in Ubud, Bali
For day six, we booked a driver to take us around to see the waterfalls of Ubud. On the way, we stopped at Goa Gajah, also known as ‘Elephant Cave’. We didn’t spend long here, as the main attraction, the cave itself, is relatively small, but being there early, we got the place ourselves. We admired the artifacts, the temples, and the gardens, then took off on our waterfall drive....
Where to eat in Ubud, Bali
If you are looking for somewhere to enhance your experience at the Tegallalang Rice Terrace, Tis Café is the place to go. You enter across a bamboo bridge, and down the stairs, to the café with sweeping views of the terraces. They have many seating options to sit back and enjoy the scenery, including lounges by their two infinity pools. When we visited, it was a minimum spend of 250K IDR per person for pool access...

When looking at options for dining in Ubud, the list can be overwhelming. Not only are there options to suit everyone’s taste, but the quality is high, and the prices are low. Where to eat in Ubud, Bali
Set amongst the rice fields, away from the crowds, but only a short walk from the main road is Sweet Orange Warung. To get there, you need to take the Sweet Orange Walk Trail. This can be found off the main street by a small sign that says “Subak Juwuk Manis – Magical Rice Field in Ubud”. This entrance starts a bit adventurously, but once you reach the rice paddies...
Where to eat in Ubud, Bali
This vegetarian café was a place we had been recommended, and it lived up to our expectations. You enter through a small shop front and up a skinny set of stairs. The café has an industrial yet laid-back vibe, where you can relax in a lounge chair and listen to the buzz of the main street below. The menu is full of tasty food, but most importantly, the coffee is great, served with a little chocolate treat on the side, and the juices are refreshing....
Where to eat in Ubud, Bali
Tucked away down a quiet alley, just a short walk from the main street of Ubud, is a peaceful restaurant called Warung Gauri. As soon as you step in, you are welcomed by the friendly staff and calm atmosphere. The food and drinks are very affordable, with meals costing between 30-40K IDR. We enjoyed the spring rolls, pork belly and crispy chicken, which were all delicious...

Where to eat in Ubud, Bali
Murni’s Warung was Ubud’s “first real restaurant”, opened in 1974. The restaurant spans over four levels, with open-air dining overlooking the lush forest and river below. We came here on our first night, and what a great “welcome to Ubud” meal it was. We could have ordered the whole menu, but decided on two dishes; the Beef Rendang, voted “World’s Most Delicious Food” by CNN Travel and the Chicken Tongseng...

With locations all over Bali, friendly staff and a fresh pastry option for everyone’s taste, this French bakery café is not to be missed.
