Yellowtrace on Instagram: "@pootarchitectuur’s bold approach to placing contemporary architecture within heritage fabric would have to be one of the main reasons this practice continues to keep us on the edge of our seats. Piercing large elliptical openings into the heritage ceilings, the architects funnel light into otherwise dark, traditional living spaces of this 19th-century Antwerp townhouse. What is most interesting here are the details left over. Painting the ceiling emerald green, the profiles of sliced heritage cornices give us a view of traditional domestic details that our eyes are not familiar with. Craft and history unite in Chan + Eayrs’ Beldi apartment in London
Craft and history unite in Chan + Eayrs’ Beldi apartment in London | For the redesign, Chan Eayrs and Eayrs drew on their own history and travels. The floors are inspired by the Marrakech riads where they got married; traditional British brick motifs reference their very first project, the Herringbone house; and interlocking geometries and internal arrangements are influenced by traditional courtyard houses in Suzhou, China, where they have travelled #interiors #green #interiordesign
