Albert Einstein. one super-smart man and one of the most famous scientists the world has ever seen! He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921. He certainly came a long way from a child who appeared to struggle at school and was told he would amount to nothing! We can learn so much from his work and his wise words.

Who could not be enchanted by British author Beatrix Potter words and illustrations in more than 20 children's books starring Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck and Benjamin Bunny? Born July 28, 1866, Beatrix Potter spent a solitary childhood with long holidays in the country where she loved sketching nature and animals. These sketches then became her stories. Beatrix Potter died in 1943; her spirit lives on in her delightful books.

The Narnia books sold over 100 million copies and were made into 3 major movies.  What amazing stories of light and darkness, of bravery and courage! .C.S. Lewis [1898 - 1963] wrote for children and adults alike. While he wrote 30 books, the Narnia series remains my favourite. How many of us found a brave spirit through hearing the stories of brave knights and heroic courage!

In 2009, Mandela's birthday (July 18) was declared "Mandela Day" to promote global peace and celebrate his legacy. Mandela died at his home in Johannesburg on December 5, 2013, aged 95.
