The UTS tower was established in 1978, using the style of brutalist architecture, it was considered as a groundbreaking style of architecture back then. In my opinion I believe the style of brutalist architecture did not suit the University of Technology in our modern time. Being the University of Technology the tower should symbolize great technological advancements and creativity, and appear bright, clean and almost futuristic.
Throughout my course at Insearch I would often question myself why the centre has such a bizarre design, especially the strange positioning of the escalators and the singular escalator located on the building exterior that only travel up to level one. To descend or ascend a level would require going around the floor from to reach the next excalator.
