The Asahi Beer Hall in Japan is one of Stark’s most recognizable projects. The flame is constructed of metal and weighs over 300 tons. The shape of the flame is easily recognized as a trademark form of the designer. It appears in almost all of his interiors, either as a sconce or a door handle. It is such a recognizable element in all of the architect's work that it is hard not to see it as his designer's trademark.

Philippe Starck's comfortable Louis XV style armchair is his most daring example of injected polycarbonate in a single mould. Despite it’s fragile appearance it is stable and durable, shock and weather resistant and can also be stacked.

Starck has also worked as an architect. Most likely influenced by his father, who worked as an aircraft engineer. Starck studied in Paris and in 1968 set up his first company, which produced inflatable objects.
