Northern Territory [2012]

The Northern Territory is a vast federal territory in Australia famed for its Outback Desert Landscapes. In the arid Red Centre lie the iconic sandstone monolith Uluru [Ayers Rock], the red-rock domes of Kata Tjuta [the Olgas] & the sculpted cliffs of Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park. Remote Alice Springs, the gateway town to the Red Centre desert, offers Aboriginal Art Galleries. The cosmopolitan capital of Darwin is Australia's doorway to Asia & celebrates its multicultural mix with delicious fusion cuisine & a relaxed tropical vibe. Darwin feels more like a big town than a city & the dreamy coastline around its outer reaches rake at the heart when a blood red sun is dipping over the horizon. It houses many relics from the World War Attack on Australia & is the magnificent Gateway to Kakadu.

- Mount Conner, Northern Territory, Australia, is sometimes mistaken for Uluru (Ayers Rock). It's just as unique and spectacular at Dawn and Sunset.

The Ghan .... The 3000km trip between Darwin and Adelaide provides glimpses of Australia's unique landscape and wildlife. I travelled on the Ghan between Adelaide and Alice Springs in 1982. Despite travelling through desert, a flood isolated us for several days. A wonderful, once in a lifetime, experience.
