Discover the properties of plastics and polystyrene foam, analyse their lifecycles, then explore innovative solutions to create more environmentally-friendly materials.  Pull up your sleeves — make your own eco-friendly bioplastic to ensure a better future for the planet.

11:00 – 11:45. Clickfest - Galactic Astronomy. CAASTRO. What kinds of galaxies can we see and how are they made? What happens to them as they grow older? What will happen to our Milky Way galaxy? You and your students are invited to join Dr Amanda Bauer as she leads an inspiring discussion on topics in the Cosmic Engine, Space, and Astrophysics modules of the Physics Stage 6 Syllabus.Dr Amanda Bauer is a Science Fellow at the Australian Astronomical Observatory.

10:00 - 10:40am. Mining, Transportation & Careers – Northparkes Mines. Northparkes operates underground block cave mines on its mining leases. Northparkes' ore is processed on site to produce a high-grade copper concentrate which is then transported by road train to the Goonumbla rail siding approximately 13 kilometres from the mine. This presentation will be a 40 minute virtual excursion explaining the process of copper mining and the expertise required to get it from portal to port.

You and your students are invited to join Dr Sean Farrell as he leads an inspiring discussion about some of the most mysterious objects in the Universe. Dr Sean Farrell is an ARC Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Sydney. He researches black holes by looking at the light they emit when gas falls into them.

How do generators actually work and how this is applied in coal power stations, wind farms, hydro electric dams, tidal generators (etc)? A discussion on why  switching to renewable energy sources will help to reducing carbon emissions  will be held, with reference being made to the science basis of climate change.
