The picture shows a gentleman assisting a lady to alight from Brisbane's first railway carriage. Queensland's first railway line extended from Ipswich to Grandchester. The first section of this line opened on 31 July 1865. The line was later extended to the Darling Downs, then was connected with Brisbane in 1875.
