Cards Against Sociology
Cards Against Sociology. Sociology may be the "Debbie Downer" of the social sciences, but sociologists aren't really so cynical ... it’s a relief to take a moment for sociological silliness, imagination, and even subversion in a world already full of social problems. It is a generally outrageous game that can be adapted to specific classes and campuses.
George H. Mead (1863-1931)
George H. Mead is positioned as 1 of the founders of the SI (Symbolic interactionism) perspective in sociology. Mead described the social self & its development through childhood. According to Mead children are eventually able to take on different roles & make a basic distinction between the self & the other. They must also develop a complex understanding of the multiple roles others play, for they must be able to recognize and anticipate how others will behave in a given situation.
