One afternoon I went for a walk around the town where I work mostly to explore some places that might have some neat stuff to photograph. On my way back to the car I came across this little bit of street art tucked away on a building near an overpass.

Here's a quick shot from last month's White Night Melbourne. This was taken on Flinders street right across the road from Fed Square. The projection was a reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood and they had a few different projections throughout the night based around fairytales.

A fine bit of abstract for your Sunday evening. Don't stare at it too long though it'll make you dizzy. I've still got some white night photos to post but this image should suffice until I work out some issues with one or two of the photos I've got.

Another shot from White Night this one was taken in the grounds at RMIT. I was strolling past when I recognised someone from the Melbourne photowalk group. Figuring she would know some good spots to shoot I headed in that general direction and came across a bunch of neat abstract patterns. Next time I'm down that way I might explore further as there were a number of turns and stairs that I didn't go down. I've got a few non-abstract shots sitting in my "Quick Collection" in Lightroom. Once…

On Saturday I travelled down to Melbourne to experience my fourth White Night. As with the previous three I stayed up all night and caught the first train home. It was a really good night with some amazing things going on. I wandered further north than I had in previous years as there was a lot of things happening in Royal Exhibition gardens including an amazing video projection that ran the whole length of the Exhibition building and the "Pyrophone" a large structure with organ-like pipes…

A few weeks ago Holly and I went to Melbourne for the day. Before we had dinner I took a stroll up Hosier Lane and took in the always-amazing street art that lined the walls. This one stood out to me because of the rich deep purples. I might try and make a trip to Melbourne a semi-regular thing because I always get pleasing results from walking around there.

Two weeks ago Holly and I went down to the city for the day. I took my camera but left my CF and SD cards at home. Whoops! So I bought a cheap card and was back in business. We stayed for dinner and as we were heading towards the train station I had to stop and shoot this building from the very base.

On Tuesday Holly and I had a lovely "weekend" away in Melbourne and Ballarat. Asides from being a nice time away with great weather it was the perfect opportunity to grab some photos to make up for a quiet 2016. After we returned from dinner in Melbourne I went out for a stroll to take some shots. Along the way I found this structure which I've photographed before but this time around it was lit up from within by a lovely magenta light. I've got other shots in the works so keep an eye out…

Moar photos! 2017 is off to a great start! This shot was taken at Walhalla during a family dinner. The weather was nice and there was a nice colour in the sky. In the next few days I plan to head to Melbourne and likely stay the night so expect a number of abstract and graffiti shots to show up.

What a year 2016 has been! First of all soz not soz for the lack of uploads to this page. Those of you in the know know that I experienced creative burnout from doing the 2015 365 challenge and felt little to no desire to pick up a camera. I used that burnout to create Auroras.live which will be celebrating its 1st birthday next month. That project alone has chewed up a fair whack of time as I wrote the watch app mobile apps developer documentation the Raspberry Pi software for weather…

Tonight I went out for a drive. Partially because there was aurora activity predicted but mostly just for a drive. I didn't catch much (came home after 3 shots. It was so bright outside I only needed an exposure of 10 seconds instead of the usual 30) but a few weekends ago I went for a similar drive during the new moon. I missed the main show but got some good shots at the Kilcunda trestle bridge. On a side note if you haven't already download my app Auroras.live. Just head to your app…

School holidays are here. This means late nights late mornings and probably a ton of programming (for my app) -- three things work doesn't pay me to do. This photo is a composite. The wreckage was taken two weeks ago at the S. S. Speke. The sky is an image I've had set aside for "stock" purposes for a while. Compositing photos is super fun!

Last weekend I went for a drive out to Phillip Island to visit the wreck of the S.S. Speke again. It's a sort of annual trip though I don't know it until after the fact. It usually starts off with a decision to go for a drive in that general direction followed by a "oh I'll go to Phillip Island" followed by a "Oh while I'm there.." then finally looking back on my old photos and seeing that I visited the place around this time last year. Similar thing for Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens…

I'm trying to get back into the swing of things photography-wise. It's been nearly two months since I released my app and I've still barely touched my camera. So last weekend I went to Phillip Island for a quick shot of the S.S. Speke and a few weekends before that I went to Melbourne for a spot of architectural photography. This is a shot from Melbourne. Somewhere near Queen Victoria market there's this building which looks very wonky and wavy when you look up at it. It was hard to catch…

Oh Melbourne how I love thee! Today I decided to spend the day in Melbourne. It may or may not have been for Pokemon Go reasons but I was long overdue for a trip to Melbourne and with my app now out (you have downloaded it haven't you? http://app.auroras.live) I was sort of keen to try and get back into photography after the 2015 365 challenge left me burnt out. So while walking up towards Queen Victoria Market ("DSL DSL! WHO WILL BUY-A MY HIGH-A SPEED-A CONNECTIONS!?") I came across…
