Protea

Named after the Greek God Proteus, these are the best known of the Proteaceae family. There are 136 species most found on the African continent. Another 82 types of Protea are found in South Africa (mainly in the Cape area) and another 35 are found in tropical Africa. There is an incredible variation in flower size, foliage form and growth habit.

Neriifolia

Neriifolia, Narrow-Leaf Sugarbush or Blousuikerbos… one of the best-known proteas. The blooms of this species while similar in shape, vary a lot in color. The bracts range from pure white through soft greens and pinks to deep reds, while their soft, fuzzy beards range from white to black or burgundy and even combinations of these vibrant colors. The soft central dome can also vary from cream or buff hues to wine. Neriifolia blooms mostly in autumn. 🍃🌷🌿 #protea #cagrown
