This toll bridge is a moving bridge, it was built in 1651 to facilitate the trade between Woerden and Bodegraven. A little village established itself around the bridge. Nieuwerbrug means new bridge. It is the only toll bridge in the Netherlands. It costs € 1,00 to pass, but only if the bridge master is there.
Small marble balcony on Juliet's House, once owned by the Capulet family, made famous by verses in Shakespeare's tragedy, in which Romeo declares his love for Juliet as she stands on this balcony.
