Manipulator's War: Origins
Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Final Fantasy and my love of mystery stories have all influenced my fantasy world building. As have my studies of ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. My characters meanwhile, have received little chunks of my personality, inclding of my queer and neurodiverse identities. I explore all these influences on my debut YA Fantasy in this blog.
Ruarnon sets sail, seeking allies to help recover their parents from sorcerer-king Nartzeer, who’s shipping murderous monsters abroad for reasons unknown. The voyage is feisty history nerd Linh and class clown Troy’s chance to sail west, where lie gateways they could travel home —to Australia— via, and the only sorcerers in the world able (and hopefully willing) to operate those gateways. Think dark Narnia but queer and Aussies whose otherness is their greatest strength in this epic YA Fantasy. Manipulator's War
Heir Ruarnon labours in their perfect father, the king's shadow. King Kyura morns his wife and unborn son, clinging to his late father's peace. Lost Aussie Linh just wants to find her way home. As warmongers pull strings, and monsters set sail, saving a continent puts all three in grave danger. Think dark Narnia, with no saviour, no immortal evil, just flawed humans, queer characters and lost Aussies whose otherness is their greatest strength. Book one of three.

Rebellion is Due
Everywhere he looks, 15-year-old Urmillian sees his people suffering under brutal foreign occupation. High taxes drive poverty and malnutrition, while the execution of anyone suspected of resistance brings the people of Tarlah to their knees. Urmillian longs to join his father’s uprising and free his people, despite father’s orders to protect the family home. An action-paced YA Fantasy novelette set before the Ruarnon Trilogy.
