Army SSG. Jeremie S. Border, 28, of Mesquite, Texas. Died September 1, 2012, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), Torii Station, Japan. Died in Batur Village, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit with small arms fire.
Army SPC Joshua J. Strickland, 23, of Woodstock, Georgia. Died September 21, 2013, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Died at Forward Operating Base Shank, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when an Afghan wearing a security forces uniform turned his weapon on U.S. troops conducting range training in Gardez, Paktia Province, Afghanistan.
The Army Green Beret Special Forces Airborne Ranger Sergeant First Class is shown here. His beret patch flash is the 46th Special Forces Company Thailand Ranger Detachment (of the 1st Special Forces Group HQ Okinawa) with the Special Forces Crest. Thought the procedure was to not wear flashy watches but they appear in many SF photos. There were many mixed units of special forces personnel from various countries and branches of military service.
