Greasers, 1950s. Greaser: a person dressed in rockabilly (WHERE did that expression come from?!) fashion and styles his hair in a pompadour or other tall retro hairstyle with a petroleum based pomade, such as seen in the movies: Grease, The Outsiders, West Side Story, Rebel Without Cause, etc (from urban dictionary)
1950s Greasers- For those of you seeing this without reading glasses, here's a piece of news for you. "Cool" was our word. We said it a bit differently. Today it is said in a more clipped way. We tended to drag out the pronunciation. But we had it first; we were the originals. jj
New York photographer Bruce Davidson documented a gang of troubled Brooklyn teenagers in 1959 that called themselves the Jokers. Check the album out here. http://www.retronaut.co/2010/06/the-jokers-1959/
1950s Americana realness in the daytime. Usually I kind of hate rockabilly style (SORRY 'BOUT IT), but this guy is so authentic it's like some guy working at a garage in 1956 fell into a wrinkle in time and emerged in the present.
