Access it from 2 different points; from the Dead Chief Trailhead above the Stevens Balustrade or at the intersection of Gulpha Gorge Trail for the easiest hike. This trail offers a moderate hike, with a steep beginning, then levels off & continues across Hot Springs Mountain. September 1957 9 African-American students were denied access in Little Rock High and were blocked by national guard under Arkansas governor. Later, President Eisenhower sent 1000 troops to let the 9 students in the high school. This became known as the Little Rock 9. The picture is a monument that represents the day they were admitted.
