Using a more narrative therapy approach, this intervention helps children and teens communicate about their lives have been like and communicate their ups and downs in a non-threatening manner. Originally created for children who where undergoing major life changes, such as CPS involvement, family change or adoption, but has been helpful working with children from all different backgrounds. Includes activities, games, worksheets and conversation starters.
Journey to My New Family is a counseling game that addresses attachment, abandonment, fears, family roles and rules, as well as adjustment to a new family. I use this game with children who are in foster care or have been adopted. The play format helps children process feelings in a non-threatening format. This is a great tool to add to your play therapy tool box.
