I got 95% of the materials at the Dollar Tree and made the poles from cellophane cardboard rolls, 9 in. round tin pans, pipe cleaners, 2.4 in. floral foam balls, and masking tape. Now all that I need to do is spray paint them gold and add the red crepe paper for the red rope!

Three coats of (interior flat) paint (Behr Cherry Tart) and allowed to dry fully. Distressed the drawers and edges just a little with a sanding block. Brushed Minwax’s Antique Walnut stain all over the dresser small sections at a time with a foam brush and then wiping off the stain with a wet cloth. Dried and added a light coat of Annie Sloan’s Dark Wax using the large brush offered with the wax. Allow to dry for a few days before adding clear wax coat.

How To: Stain over paint technique. Love the red. Painting a dresser a bold color is a great way to add a pop of color. You can always change it if you don't like it.

Graduation party idea - all one color though. Like for me, I'm thinking a BRIGHT red (a dark red will be hard to see) with a black marker (school colors). Also make it hang-able so the graduate can put it in room
