American Black Bear - American black bears are primarily black, but they may be brown, cinnamon, pale blue, or white. A white patch on the chest is also common. Due to their low reproductive rates, black bears can only sustain a very low rate (0-5 percent) of additional unnatural deaths; each bear killed by man is extremely devastating.

North American Black Bear – Ursus Americanus – colour – black, bluish-black, brown, white (Kermode or Spirit bear). The Black Bear is the most common bear in North America ranging from Florida, north into Canada and Alaska. The black and brown colour phase of the black bear is common. The black bear is omnivorous, with their diet mostly of vegetable matter. Males weigh up to 280kg (600 pounds), occasionally much more. Black bears live up to 25 years in the wild.
