Fort Anne, Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada | Fort Anne is a four-star fort built to protect the harbour of Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. The fort repelled all French attacks during the early stages of King George's War. Now designated a National Historic Site of Canada, it is managed by Parks Canada. The oldest surviving house in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia is the deGannes-Cosby House on upper St George Street. This is a small colonial style house built with a gambrel roof and two chimneys. The house is notable for its remnants of wattle and daub, a clay wall infill used during the Acadian Period. This house was built in 1708 for Louis deGannes de Falaise, a French Major who was posted to the fort at Port Royal (Fort Anne) (text by Ryan Scranton).  Image by Rediscovering Canada
