Appalachian Mountains are the chief mountain system of eastern North America, and the oldest mountains in the United States. They stretch southwestward for about 1,500 miles from Quebec in Canada to central Alabama. The mountains form the eastern continental divide between the rivers that flow into the Atlantic Ocean and those that drain into the Gulf of Mexico.
Here I can feel my roots and they run deep in these mountains. Here I feel my ancestors, both English & Irish settlers in the Appalachians and the Indians of the area. It is here I sense the nearness of God! Is it any wonder my soul is at rest here? I think not.
Old Appalachian Mountain farmhouse ~ I know this sounds farfetched, but I'm absolutely certain that I have hiked past this very modest, but beautiful home. The area surrounding it is gorgeous and very peacefully serene, remote, quiet.
East Coast US - Appalachian Trail Thru-hike - "The Appalachian Trail is one of the longest continuously marked footpath in the world, measuring roughly 2,180 miles in length. The Trail goes through fourteen states along the crests and valleys of the Appalachian mountain range from the southern terminus at Springer Mountain, Georgia, to the Trail’s northern terminus at Katahdin, Maine."
Appalachian Mountains. Appalachian is a range of mountains in the Eastern North America. West Virginia is the only state which is completely located inside this range of mountains. This image is beautiful and it is part of my moutaineer experience here in Morgantown
