People don’t choose to be atheist because they’re too lazy to find out more about religion. This post was inspired by a recent survey by the the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, which found that atheists and agnostics know more basic facts about the Bible than either Protestants or Catholics. (Though I don’t know how reliable this survey is, I thought it was interesting.)
According to the U.S. Religion Landscape Survey 28 percent of American adults have left the faith in which they were raised in favor of another religion — or no religion at all. Read our panelists' viewpoints at spokanefavs.com/blogs/viewpoints.

I had a religious friend tell me recently that he felt atheists were bullying Christians. I wondered how and he said that they are promoting atheistic ideas in schools and other public forums. I told him that I figured atheists would only become bullies if, like Christians, they attempted to exclude the practice and teaching of theology in our society. Since the opposite is true (at least currently), I don't see how atheists are the bullies.
