Army Sgt. Troy O. Tom Died August 19, 2009 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom 21, of Shiprock, N.M.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.; died Aug. 18 in Arghandab, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit.

Army SFC. Coater B. Debose, 55, of State Line, Mississippi. Died August 19, 2012, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 2nd Battalion, 351st Infantry Regiment, 158th Infantry Brigade, 1st Army Division East, U.S. Army Reserve, Camp Shelby, Mississippi. Died in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained from small arms fire while conducting security operations. SFC Debose was assigned to train Afghan police.
