St Augustine of Africa of 4th century. Had a son with his girlfriend, lived together for years. His mother St. Monica prayed. Then he met St Ambrose. He became a celibate priest then bishop. He is now a Doctor of the Church. Some of his works include the books "City of God" and "Confessions of Augustine".
