Like hummingbirds orioles love to consume sugar water from a feeder. Colorful visitors to coax into one's yard. The one shown here is a Baltimore Oriole, an eastern, North American, migratory breeding bird and -- State Bird of Maryland.
oriole - I saw one in my yard last year, for less than a minute, and it was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen!

Don't forget to put out oranges for the orioles! And I am finding out the woodpeckers like them too.
Baltimore Oriole...my favorite birds as a young girl because of a book my father would read with me over and over again.
Baltimore Oriole, May 2004. We had a late snow in April so there wasn't much food available for any birds. They stayed for about 3 weeks. This is the first time I saw them in my yard and never since.
Hope this beautiful guy comes back to my backyard in Oklahoma City. Last summer I watched a male and female bring four babies to my feeder.
