Nicola Samori (b. 1977). Neo-Baroque? Nicola works out of Italy, and he’s managed to nail the style of the Old Masters, all painted now, in the modern era, in his studio. See, once he’s finished with a painting, or once he’s adapted one that’s been previously created, he takes a scalpel to it, a spatula, or a square of sandpaper, and begins to peel it apart. The Cardsharps – one of Caravaggio's best-loved and most famous paintings. – Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (1571-1610) was an Italian painter active in Rome, Naples, Malta, and Sicily between 1592 (1595?) and 1610. His paintings, which combine a realistic observation of the human state, both physical and emotional, with a dramatic use of lighting, had a formative influence on Baroque painting.
