Actor Buddy Ebsen, best known for his TV roles in the Beverly Hillbillies and  Barnaby Jones, was born Apr. 2, 1980. He died on July 6, 2003. What isn't widely known, Ebsen was cast as the Tinman in The Wizard of Oz (1939) until he fell ill from an allergy to the makeup.
