A solar eclipse project we did based on the News 2 You article we read this week. Just glue a yellow sun to black construction paper. Then create a black moon and attach it by poking a hole and using a fastener. Voila, you have a moveable moon for a solar eclipse. It was great for fine motor skills, as we cut out each individual ray for the sun. My class suns are pictured at the bottom.

Chalk Cityscape: You really can’t go wrong with bright, blended chalk pastel on black construction paper. I love how the buildings and moon glow. Cut out the buildings on separate paper, place it on the black construction paper, and use the chalk pastels to shade around the buildings. Once you remove the buildings, you’ll be left with this glowing outline.

Spider Web Marble Painting Cover a few marbles in white paint. Put a sheet of black construction paper in a shirt box, and roll the marbles from side-to-side to create spider webs. When the paint dries, glue on spiders made from construction paper, fabric, pipe cleaners, or other materials you have around your home.
