Container Bush Beans French"Mascotte" The first true container green bean, perfect for pots and small gardens. Fast- growing, compact plants are disease-resistant and heavy yielding with bean pods borne at the tops of the plants.
While cucumbers thrive near bush beans, lettuce and radishes, and choke near potatoes. Beans, beets, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, corn, cucumbers and strawberries make good neighbors -- as long as you plant the onions, garlic, leeks and shallots elsewhere. Peppers do well with carrots, eggplant, onions, parsley and tomatoes, but not with kohlrabi. Keep lettuce away from cabbage and keep onions away from asparagus, beans and peas. Spinach gets along with everyone.
Purple Bean. Beautifully purple colored beans turn forest green when cooked. Bush bean has a compact upright habit. Stringless beans have excellent flavor. Pods measure 5 to 5 1/2 inches. Great bean for freezing or canning. 50-52 days.
