This photo was taken in the area of the Killing Fields at Choeung Ek - a place where the remains of innocent yet terrorised victims were burried by the Khmer Rouge in mass gravesites in the late 1970s. Since the Lon Nol coup in March 1970, two groups are fighting for control - the Khmer National Armed Forces (FANK), supported by the USA, and the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN), pitted against the Cambodian People's National Liberation Armed Forces, (composed of Maoist nationalists and Khmer Rouge communists) supported by North Vietnam and the Vietcong.
