On the morning of August 24, 1992, Hurricane Andrew made landfall in South Florida. It has been listed as one of the strongest hurricanes to ever hit the United States, and the third category 5 hurricane to make land fall in the United States.

Super Typhoon China - A super typhoon is a storm that sees wind speeds of at least 150 miles per hour for a minimum of one minute, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Such a storm is the equivalent of a category 5 hurricane in the Atlantic basin or a severe tropical cyclone in the Australian basin. The U.S. Joint Typhoon Warning Center coined the term "super typhoon."
2005: Hurricane Katrina forms over the Bahamas, later becomes a category 5 hurricane devastates much of the U.S. Gulf Coast from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle, killing more than 1,836 and causing over $115 billion in damage.
