Charles Lindbergh (1902-1974) was an American pilot and the first man to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.Lindbergh's solo transatlantic flight in 1927 made him one of America's early celebrity heroes. He received a New York ticker-tape parade, and newspapers breathlessly covered his every move. I chose this photo because it shows his success as a pilot.
In 1927, a group of St. Louis businessmen gave financial backing to the first solo transatlantic flight from New York to Paris. The pilot was Charles Lindbergh and the plane was named “The Spirit of St. Louis.” www.stlarchs.org
