The Manson Family. In 1969, on August 8, Charlie Manson told Family members at Spahn Ranch, “now is the time for Helter Skelter.” That evening the family, under the direction of Manson, would commit the famous murder of Sharon Tate, leading to other murders over the two day period.
Charles Mills Manson was a sadly mentally ill man who was unfairly crucified by the media, the public, and the courts. He was treated as an outcast since childhood and found a sense of belonging in the "family" of groupies he amassed by his passionate music in the sixties. Some bad apples killed Sharon Tate, and Charlie was forced to take the fall. He is currently in solitary confinement as a political prisoner in California, after having served over fifty years.
