It's surprisingly creepy for a children's book, but it's really good.

You don’t really understand, do you? I don’t want whatever I want. Nobody does. Not really. What kind of fun would it be if I just got everything I ever wanted? Just like that, and it didn’t mean anything. What then? — Neil Gaiman, Coraline

The Graveyard Book - Neil Gaiman

One of the BEST books I have ever read!! It has a Jungle book 'feel' but instead of a boy being raised by animals in a jungle, it's about a boy raised by Ghosts in a graveyard. AMAZING! Check out more of Neil Gaiman's books by clicking on the above image.

Coraline

Coraline by Neil Gaiman, with beautiful illustrations by Chris Riddell. I named one of my cats Coraline because I love this story.

Coraline - Neil Gaiman. I loved it! It is amusing and pleasantly creepy. Coraline is brave and intelligent at the same time.

Good quote but I thought the cat said that.

"Man gives names to all the animals" (and people, and places, and gods) since "he" thinks that naming is creating. {jy}

I somehow had never read the book Coraline before and I am SO GLAD I did. This is the perfect scary, spooky read I was hoping for right now. Perfectly creepy in all the good ways.
