Beatrix Potter bought Hill Top in 1905, having fallen in love with the Lake District and the surrounding area. Over the next few years she spent as much time as possible at Hill Top, gaining inspiration for her stories from the farmhouse and the local villages.

The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop tucked away in the corner of St. Oswalds's Churchyard, next to the Wordsworth Hotel in the village of Grasmere, Ambleside, Cumbria. This cottage is famous for it's gingerbread that has been made in this cottage since the Victorian era. The recipe is kept locked in a bank vault.
