1912 Crane Model 3 at Amelia Island 2012 by gswetsky, via Flickr. Crane Motor Company of Bayonne, New Jersey made cars from 1912-1915 and was a successor to Crane & Whitman Automobile Works which went out of business in 1908. Crane merged w/ Simplex Motor Co. in 1915. This car is a rare example as few exist. It has a 6 cyl. 48 h.p. engine. The expensive chassis was built to be covered w/ custom coachwork, usually Brewster. The total cost of this car was 15,000 in 1912!
