{Free} Surface Area and Volume Formula Posters

Volume of a Cone- Watch an animated demonstration of finding the volume of a cone and cylinder with the same base and height in this video from KCPT. In the accompanying classroom activity, students estimate the relative volume of a cone and cylinder with the same base and height. They test their estimates by filling the cone and pouring the contents into the cylinder and then use the cylinder volume formula as a basis for predicting the cone volume formula.

Included in this download are 4 posters. Posters include pictures and formulas for volume, lateral surface area and total surface area of a right square pyramid, a right circular cylinder, a right circular cone and a sphere.

FREE! 8th grade students will apply formulas for volume of cylinders, cones and spheres to solve real-world and mathematical problems. Suggestions are given as to how to introduce and relate the volumes of cylinders and cones.
