The first drive-in movie theater opened in Camden, New Jersey, on June 6, 1933. At the height of their popularity in the 1950s and 60s there were roughly 4,000 drive-in theaters across America compared to only a few hundred today. This photo was taken in Chicago, 1951 - LIFE magazine.
Drive-In Theater Commercial. This takes me back to going to the drive in theatre with my family and playing on the play equipment under the screen. I can hear the song that played on this commercial too! Ah, good times!
