Cool Science for Kids: Exploring the Density of Liquids w/ Salt~ BuggyandBuddy.com

Exploring the Density of Liquids with Salt

Cool Experiments: Exploring the Density of Liquids. Put water in a clear cup, and add oil. Add a few drops of food coloring. The food coloring floats until you add a pinch of salt, then it sinks through the oil like a lava lamp.

1. Fill both glasses with water, right up to the brim. 2. Add food coloring and salt to one glass. I didn’t measure the salt, but added a generous amount. 3. Place the card over the glass containing just water and carefully place it over the glass of colored water and salt. 4. Even more carefully remove the cardboard.
