Deforestation also drives climate change. Forest soils are moist, but without protection from sun-blocking tree cover they quickly dry out. Trees also help perpetuate the water cycle by returning water vapor back into the atmosphere. Removing trees deprives the forest of portions of its canopy, which blocks the sun’s rays during the day and holds in heat at night. This disruption leads to more extreme temperatures swings.
Oil industry executives are facing a big problem and are scrambling to find a solution. Their ability to perform seismic surveys (their only viable means of finding and monitoring the production of offshore oil and gas) is being seriously threatened. In a February 2014 Environmental Impact Study Final Report, the U.S. Department of Interior concluded that the legacy airguns in use today are the cause of massive injuries, disruptions and dis
