A colossal statue of Ramses II, in the Open-Air Museum at Memphis, Egypt. This statue is so huge that they left it on the ground and built the museum around it. We felt very small on the balcony surrounding it.
The Manial Palace and Museum, is a former Ottoman Egyptian dynasty era palace and grounds on Rhoda Island in the Nile, Cairo, Egypt. This palace was built by the uncle of King Farouk, Prince Mohammed Ali, in the early 20th century, in a mix of Ottoman, Moorish, Persian and European rococo styles. Now a quirky museum, it contains, among other things, Farouk’s hunting trophies and the prince’s collection of medieval manuscripts and clothing.
